I’ve bought a XKR-S RHD an have started the convertion process to LHD. So far I’ve been able to source all the parts except a decisional problem with the steering rack.
does anyone know what’s the difference between the XK/XKR and XKR-S rack?
I’ve looked up the Jaguar site and part nr for the XKR-S is :
when I google this only thing that comes up are the dealer websites. If I go for a used one the part nr changed to : cw8m-3200-ab wich brings up a lot of parts for different cars and year production.
question is:
how do I find the “C2” on this used parts and is there a difference between the different variants of the XK
Hoo, boy. Did you get the RHD at a drastic price reduction or something? That is NOT a cheap nor easy conversion.
price was fair, conversion is not difficult as car has all the predisposition for LHD and used parts are very accessible mostly because no one changes this parts. Is harder to find panel body parts that parts needed to do the convertion.
Most people would forget both door cards along with associated controls, harnesses and reprogramming things.
Methinks it'll be just a bit more difficult than you anticipate.
I do applaud your goals though, and wish you well. Do continue to update, please.

actually it’s easier than what you think. Floor mats needs to be changed but door controllers are the same expect that mirror control and windows moves to the left (controller trim needs to be changed)
reprograming of the ecu is just a dump file and change . However it’s time consuming not rocket since. And because the platform is 10 years old parts are cheap. Again it’s hard to find body parts not interior and switches
Seems like an awful amount of work, why not get a LHD model?
These are for the 2008 XKRS
C2Z25889 - Steering rack and pinion £7,045.81 RHD
C2Z25888 - Steering rack and pinion £6,953.38 LHD
the C2Z25888 is for Xf and XKR-S vin number after 49
RHD is about 70/80k after registering it in Italy wich is double of what my RHD also because I wanted the convertible French racing blue and that is about 25/26 produced Fi both LHD and RHD
So, the XK pedal assembly and HVAC penetrations are symmetrical?
Might it be possible to use your RHD steering rack to rebuild/convert a standard LHD steering rack?
there is no modification to be done to the body as it’s already predisposed for both LHD and RHD the pedal assembly and the brake buster cilindro needs change together with pipes that go from master cylinder to abs no other modifications
next steering rack needs to be change together with hi pressure pipe and return oli
on cabin there is a bit more to do but more or les
floor carpets
windows and mirror switches
dashboard and heating box
wiring lome is same as the Xkr and can be found on braking yeards easily
the harness of the doors are reversible
the door handle needs to be replaced
glass mirrros also
headlight have a mechanical
switch for LHD alignment
there are more bits but nothing that can’t be found out there
Again the Xkr-s was just a mechanical upgrade and a facelift parts for convertion are the same.
xkrs-get uses a standard F type 2013-2016 steering rack (can always use that for about €500 used) but wanted to see if someone knew more about this numbers before I do
Good luck changing a XKR-S from RHD to LHD, it's not a good decision and will also dramatically reduce the value of it in the process of ripping it up. If you have plenty of cash to chuck away and the time for this work maybe it will work out

The steering rack is different, as are struts, springs, roll bars, control arms and if you are unlucky the Alcon set-up. Much of the interior is different too. It's a ball ache but interesting to see what happens

He already has an -S, the bold parts shouldn't need changing just because Drive Side. Brake LINES will have to change though, yes.
Congratulations!
You get exactly the car that you want and a project of which you can be very proud.
You get to know the car intimately and a LH driver seat that has hardly been used!
You said carpets to be changed, I assume you meant mats and that the carpet "bathtubs" remain unchanged.
However, the rigid sealant on the over-lapped aluminum joints at the base of the door posts in this 10+ Y.O. vehicle is or will separate, and leak when it rains.
If the sealant looks solid, look again, as it loses adhesion.
So, pull those bathtubs and replace the sealant to save yourself a bit of grief.
Post photos of your progress!
Rain that enters at the vent window follows the door post to the lap joint. Brittle, failed sealant allows water to enter cabin. Small leaks may not be noticeable but result in a nasty smell. 2010 XK Door Post Lap Joint mid-repair.

brake lines don’t change the ABS pump stays in the same position, it only changes from brake servo to Abs

The parts needed are not mechanical or anyway affect the S performance . Car has no parts coded to vin number they all move to different versions or models

thank you ! Yes they need replacement as the pedals move to the left. Will check on that. Thank you
I don’t really care much on the value, this is a car I always wanted.
its time consuming but it is a straight forward job once you have all the parts.
Except for the steering rack (wich again is not unique to Xkr-s but also used in xkr dynamic version, xfr-s and some xk with wider 20 inch tires) everything else is cosmetic parts.
the dashboard will be restiched to match the rest of the interior. Seats don’t move as they both 3 memory (will remove the weight sensor and move it to the right).
because the car is both RHD and LHD
proces is a straight forward job no need to engineer nothing
