I am unable to help you with the dead battery and how to open the trunk but I would be looking at the dead battery as being part of your other problems.

You should have a key hole to the right of your license plate for the emergency key.
Battery is located just behind the rear seats.

Mike,

You should be able to open the trunk with the emergency blade in your remote key. For details, see this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...n-trunk-87388/

Or, if you have a battery charger, you can try charging it using the remote charge terminals. One set is inside the trunk, which you can use if you get the lid open. Otherwise, try attaching the +terminal to the post under the left rear fender and the -terminal to the ground post under the spare wheel well. See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...3/abela-87566/

Do you have an Owner's Handbook? If so, these procedures are in it.
If you don't have a Handbook, you can access it online: TOPIx - TOPIx
1. Click on your language (English), Click on United States, Click Select
2. Dropdown arrow, go to XK/X150, dropdown arrow to model year, Click Find.
3. Click Owner box in RH corner
4. Click Owners Handbooks then search for what you need.

Hope this helps,

Stuart

Read the Hand Book Download. It's the very first item on this site.

Take your Smart Key. Remove the metal key from the FOB. Insert into the keyhole in the trunk. Lift trunk up.

Until you get a straight answer......you might Google each code one at a time to get a hint as to the fault.

P1000 seems to be a code that won't go away til you fix the other two codes and do a driving cycle. The driving cycle on some cars is an extensive drive of many different conditions. Don't expect this one to go south til the other two problems are fixed.

P0730............. P0730¦ DTC P0730¦ Transmission Wrong Gear Ratio

P0715............. What does a 'PO715 input speed sensor open short malfunction' mean on 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

That should keep you busy til someone else gives you a straight answer. Had someone check you fluid level lately?

This is a not very helpful reply above. You could download the ZF transmission manual and take it from there.

Never checked the fluid. Not sure how. I know there is no dipstick. I'm thinking its a low fluid/ hot fluid code. Seems that if its low then I would get hot. How do I check it and add some if needed

There was a HOW TO post on this forum I read once upon a time that was pretty descriptive. The manual that is downloadable on the web also tells one how to check the fluid level. Memory tells me it's a pain to do. But then again you need to do that. If I find that post I'll paste it on this thread.

Ooops. Those jpg are hard to read. If I were you I'd spend the ????? $ and download the manual from the EBAY site. I might post the jpgs larger later if needed but it means I'll have to do twice as many.

That is a link to a XK8 fluid change out and there is a link in it that leads you to YOUTUBE and you could view that. I know you own a XK not XK8. Read and watch the video is what I'd recommend for now. Never done it myself. Not looking fwd to doing it either.

Only code I could find in my book was the p0730. "Low fluid" or "Worn Clutch". Any shop should be able to check levels for you.

A web search found this on P0715 And this May be a sensor issue, not a trans failure. I see a lot of gripes on the net regardless of car brand about this sensor failure, so being a "common" complaint always has me starting there, (Not that it is the right answer, but I prefer paths where others have already traveled)

The P1000 simply says the scan did not complete, so I would focus on the first two codes.

The 0715 is described in the link above.

The 0735 I pasted in post #29 above and that jpg came out of my downloaded XK workshop manual.

"The Turbine Shaft Speed sensor is monitored for CIRCUIT FAULTS and rationality (P0715, P0717)." Those words come from the link above. It also states if the speed is too fast or slow another code would have been dumped, and it was not according to the DTC's you gave us. Given that I'd try to ohm out that sensor to see if its value is within specs. To do that you'd have to know what plug on the transmission has to be disconnected and which pins to ohm out. That would be in the ZF transmission manual I believe and I ain't a got that un.

Go to this site and you'll find the meaning of the DTC's. Audi/Jaguar/Bmw "Zf6hp26

Page 47 on that site. Says " P0715 Turbine Speed Signal Open or Short Circuit". Seems to me to be the place to start and maybe end up. Need to ohm out that circuit and compare it to the manufaturers value......whatever that is.

The speed sensors and solenoids are in the Mechatronic which is item in the attached jpg.

Item 11 in the jpg is the electrical connector. Looks like a Cannon plug to me from here.

Maye there's someone on this forum who's familiar as to which pins in the electrical connector would be ohm'd out to check the speed sensor??? A Jag mechanic out there??????? Or maybe it's not as simple as that. I would have thought it would be though.

The speed sensor can be bought online but as you can see the Mechatronic would have to be accessed to do so.

How 'bout a Jag mechanic giving a hand here????? Thank you.

EDIT: Whoops. Not possible. I just read the first page of the manual I attached in a post above and it says " the pass through case connector from the module to the vehicle harness will basically carry only power, ground and CAN Bus network" Meaning you cannot just ohm out the speed sensor through this connector. Oh well. Tough sleding.
