i have a 2012 XKRS and when you shut the car off you hear a creaking noise like a rusty gate. It appears to be coming from the driver side around where the performance exhaust bypass is located. When you shut the car off does the valve always stay open if the performance mode is selected? Or does the valve open again when the car is restarted. Still under warranty but I want to be have an idea what i am talking about when I take it in next spring.

I believe the valve is normally open when the car is off. You can tell when you first start the engine . The exhaust starts out loud and in maybe 10-20 seconds the exhaust quiets as the valve closes. When you press the DSC it allows the valve to open up. I found the DSC stays on when you restart the car but it does not stay on over night.

 

My exhaust on my 12 XKR was doing this. Replacing it with a Stage 3 Spires exhaust not only made it louder and more aggressive than my XKRS - it got rid of the creeky exhaust when I turned it off!!

 

Pull the exhaust valve opening fuse and see does it stop, if there is one on the s, i'm sure there is.

 

There is. On my stage 3 i bought it without any valves so its open 100% of the time.
