Default ZF modifications

Just in the very early stage of my next potential project and have been in contact with my gearbox specialist over the few days , we are going to take a good look at potentially beefing up the gearbox .

He's also asked for cam specs to see if we can modify the torque converter

Interesting to watch but wouldn't it be an easier approach to adapt the 5.0L gearbox.

I'm getting your referring the 5.0 zf 8spd with is found in the f type

The thought has crossed my mind I'm just unsure how the software would work since our vehicles are designed for the 6spd

Has a weakness been exposed?

What are you attempting to accomplish? The ZF 6HP26 is a very robust gearbox and can handle the torque output of most engines it is mated to.

Have the 'gearbox specialist' list for you what he or she is attempting to achieve.

The torque converter stall on the ZF is to maintain lower RPM for fuel economy and drivability. Are you driving this vehicle on the track?

NB cat fuel consumption isn't a huge concern for me or most of us performance orientated car owners .

With the aj34 I'm noticing there is absolutely no torque below 3500rpm so I'm looking at ways to fill that void in which has pushed me In the direction of transmission mods

One of the issues you must overcome is how the TCM is programmed and how it communicates with other control modules. Having the torque converter stall at a very low RPM may create a problem for the TCM.

That's why they said they wanted to see the cam specs first
