Default Battery

I have a 1952 xk120 and there are no battery trays behind the seat. There are battery connectors in the engine compartment down by the starter but I don't see a tray/rails where a battery would sit?? Anyone know what might be going on?

Well either heavily modified or hate to say but you have described the body of an XK 140. What is the body number?

Default XK120??

Thanks and OHHH SH*T! I went to look at the car yesterday at a dealer of vintage cars. It's in pretty good shape but when I pushed the seats forward to look at the battery boxes, it's simply a ledge, there are no battery goes. When they went to start it, they had to jump it from under the car, near the starter. I thought it was odd but they showed me paperwork saying it is a 120. I took a picture of the plate in the engine compartment and it looks like P1937. I'm glad I didn't give them any money yet. You can call me if you have a min. Thanks for the help! Kevin 2138049582

Default XK120??

Also, the car has the thin bumpers like a 120. It has the front grille of a 120. But looking at the internet pictures, looks like a 140 dash. What the hell is going on?

Also, the car has 120 bumpers and grille but a 140 dash. I'm confused.

Why not post some pictures. A 140 can sort of be made to look like a 120. Does the trunk lid (boot) go all the way to the bottom in back or is there a 10 inch or so ledge?

It sure looks like a 120. But why would it have the battery in a 140 location?
