Default Brake Drum Specs

I may have been a bit premature in having my drums media blasted and powder coated, before having them turned, but that bell has been rung so we move on.

Can't seem to find the machine specs on the drums anywhere on the
interwebs or the service manual.

Does anyone happen to know the drum specs "as new" or the specs on whether I still have enough remaining meat left to have them turned.

They maybe original drums by the markings, but pretty sure they haven't been touched in 30 years.

Thanks, and please help.

Default Which Type

Apologize, assumed it was in my profile or something.

Late '52 XK120 OTS-SE

Machine shop says there's meat to grind, but would still love the specs for my files.

Thanks and Cheers

Might check with SNG, XKs Unlimited or Vintage Jag, these companies sell these parts and restore more 120s than most.

Thanks Jagfixer. It's odd that I can't find that info anywhere, but as I'm in weekly conversations with XK,s, I'll ask them in the next round.

I have a shopping cart built with them for the parts needed to do my "Safe & Reliable" rehab on the car, so I'm sure they'll be helpful

So I've inquired at XK's, but they sounded as if they were unlikely to know them, but are looking into it.

I find it very odd that no one in this forum, nor the service manual, nor anywhere on the web am I able to find this info.

My search continues.

Usually the specs are stamped on the drums. But, unfortunately the XK 120-40-50 are old enough that they may never had been stamped or is unreadable. Technically back in the day when renewing shoes, turned the drums and went on. But if a drum was scored bad, you replaced drum and was done with it. Now everybody wants technical info, was never published. I have Manuals from SS100 thru the 90s and after disc brakes all specs are remove and replace when doing pads. If the shop has older members and experienced in Jaguars, then I would trust them, but I do my own and it is a consideration of what the owner does and what the owner will do. If not racing the car, you can have them true them up, but racing would require discs. My preferred shop asks me what I want and leaves it up to me as we have been working together for 30 yrs., and my experience comes with me telling them and signing a release of responsibility.

Theres no real scarring to speak of, so at this point I'm going go ahead have them turned (measuring the drums 1st) if only to true them if out of round. Not in the mood for an extra 1k for new hubs all the way around. New shoes and rebuilds on all cylinders and ancillary parts.

I'll some specs and results in time, so at least there's a somewhat meaningless watermark for others to go off of.

Again, thanks for the input.
