Default VIN Plate in French, seeking information

Greetings... I am not (yet) an XK owner, and am doing a little due diligence prior to embarking on a transaction for a barn find. Widow wishes to sell a project car, which I have not yet seen, but she has provided a VIN plate photo. She, unfortunately knows little history on the vehicle. The data plate is also not the large plate I have typically seen on E-types.

The plate has Type (XK140), Chassis (A819XXXBW), and Moteur (G9134 8), and Boîte (nothing in this slot).

Under these numbers is import/distributeur also written in French, with an address in Paris. Based on this little bit of information, I gather the vehicle was originally imported into France, and then eventually found its way to the US.

Is there anything else that can be gleaned from this information? I am not an expert on the XKs and so would like to be as informed as possible when I go see this vehicle.

TIA, Mike

Try Jaguar Heritage: -

Obviously the car is an XK140, but whether OTS, Coupe or DHC is yet unknown. The '8' on the end of the engine number will be the compression ratio.
Why not post a photo of the plate.

Ask and ye shall receive... I will indeed follow the Jaguar Heritage route if I follow this thread further. It seems as though it may also have some titling complications, which I'm not sure I wish to dive into given the byzantine rules of the state I reside in. thanks for the lead Fraser.

That doesn't look like the plate normally used, and is, I suspect, a French legal requirement that Jaguar had to follow. There is certainly enough information on there for Jaguar Heritage to respond on.

Fraser is correct. These additional plates were added in many areas to meet government requirements. That said the original plate was not removed. Are you sure this is the only plate on the car?
