Xk120 Fuel pump

Three pumps in 35 years doesn't sound bad, but if its Pump 1 lasted 33 years and Pumps 2 & 3 were needed in years 34-35, there is a problem ! First step is surely to flus out the fuel tank. Second thing is what petrol are you using and how many miles are being run per year. Too much ethanol in the petrol may be affecting the pump diaphragm. What pumps are you fitting ? The originals are still made and electronic versions are available : -

I like to keep the original setup if all the plumbing is in place -- there are rebuild kits for the SU pump, it also may be possible to replace just the pump portion, and not the 'head'
On my 120, that came without the original plumbing, I am using a Facet pump, made out of resin/plastic, so no grounding issues. Bought at NAPA, but I have seen them on ebay at a reasonable price.
Be sure and have at least one see-thru fuel filter before the pump.
