I was always annoyed at the broken REAR SEAT cupholders in the Jaguar S-Types. Repaired quite a few in new car warranty. (similar to the Audi MRomanik has but built into the seat cushion)
I purchased the front console cup holders form eBay motors a few years back. The rubber coating was peeling and looked like crap. This one doesn't look much better. The OEM cup holder has those rubber-band tension
clips. A newer style I have found on eBay has two different size cup holders but not tension clips. For those Big Gulp sodas I suppose. Sorry for the split screen images. The top pic is a direct replacement for the OEM.Pic #2 is what I reckon to be the latest version.Jaguar XJ8 2004-2009 Center Console Cup Holder C2C26874
After I bought my XK8 a few years ago, I quickly realized that even if the cup holders wouldn't keep falling apart, using them is a terrible idea. In any spirited driving, in the hills and mountains around here, anything placed therein would most likely get clobbered by my elbow and spilled. Indeed, I later noticed evidence of multiple such previous driver spills, down the passenger-side carpet adjacent to the console cup holders.
I don't drink sodas so that's not a problem and have accepted drinking my coffee before departure. I have found that small bottles of water fit neatly between the seat and console, by the seatbelt buckle. Handy and unobtrusive.
I am certain that the engineers believe that Jag owners and their passengers do not get thirsty. I am certain that the cup holder is purely decorative and not intended to be used in any manner that would be of any convenience.

Those were the work of the devil, I secured mine with duct tape in the end.
The best solution is to never eat or drink in your vehicle. That has been my rule since I acquired my first new car in December 1974. Works for me. I have attempted to convince my wife to treat her vehicles the same way since October 1979. Unfortunately I still have not gotten through to her....
My philosophy as well - no one, including me, is allowed to eat, drink or bring dirt into our cars. There is always the Clapham Omnibus for those that wish to travel with food!
I don't eat or drink in my car, except for water. However, sometimes I do stop at a fast food joint to buy food because cooking after a tough and long day can be beyond my energies at the time. Cup holders are a convenient way to transport the drink to my home. I am surprised that no one else has done this.
