Center Console / Cup Holder

Center Console / Cup Holder
So the plastic "hinge" on our center console cup-holder has snapped. As a result the cupholer no longer closes (or open properly) and looks bad.
Anybody ever experience this? Trying to figure out options to fix/replace it. 1998 XK8.
Appreciate any advise out there!!

cup holder alternative
Has anyone come up with an alternate (better) system to hold cups in the jag?
I have dumped a full cup of sticky coke on two different occasions with my arm while entering the car...even when I was aware of the hazard.
I have not worked on it but seems like there should be some way to hang a cup holder device to the passenger side of the center console. This way it can't be bumped while entering and exiting the car. This assumes of course you rarely have a passenger. When I have a passenger, its their job to hold my drink while I am entering/exiting and driving the car.

Some forum member used a Santana product similar to this. I think he took out the old unit and top lid, mounted the holder to the bin and got a european lid to cover everything up. The thread is on here somewhere.

Found the thread with the best fix. It's from forum member enderle. Really nice solution.
