Default 01 won't turn over

Yesterday leaving work, the car made a funny sound as it started and then again after I stopped on my way home. This morning the car started to turn over very lazy and then just stopped. Now all it does is click, when I turn the key.

Battery has been checked and while slightly under charged it tests as good. I have been having a problem lately with drivers window going down when I opened the door, I just thought my battery was low.

My guess would be the starter and my mechanic thinks so too. but he can't get to it till Monday or Tuesday, so how hard is it to change the starter?

Check to make sure you are getting full current to the starter- bulkhead connection comes to mind.

+1 Go over battery and connections carefully before addressing the starter.

+1

Begin troubleshooting at the back of the vehicle and work your way forwards.

A dying battery or loose junction box (arrowed in the pic) connections are much more frequent culprits than the starter.

Battery is barely a year old and tests good. connections at the junction box are tight and no signs of corrosion.

Hi, Randyb.
Please, take a minute and review the short thread linked below.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...estion-102693/

Namely the post #5 that illustrates a half moon wrench which is absolutely necessary it you want to handle it in few hours over entire day or more .
Best of luck, mate!
