'01 XK8 Rear Shocks

What's the consensus when it comes to replacing the rear shocks on a 2001 XK8? Just replace the shocks, 2 washers and 2 isolators that come with the shock assembly (Bilstein), or are there any other parts recommended to replace "while you're in there"?

Srpope, good question.

I was lucky the 1st time I changed my front shocks, already bought the upper mount, and I didn't trash the plastic spring centering device. It sure would be a headache if you found a need for worn or failed parts in the middle of the job. Odds are the part is several days away in a different state.

I've got to replace my rears too, so I will be watching your question.

BTW, is around $200 the best price range you've found for identical Bilstiens?

I would replace the Spring Isolators too, P/N: MMD3565AA

Thank you 1LeSvT, I thought that seemed to be the upper wear bushing for the cap but couldn’t tell. I appreciate it.

I’ll post my usual pictures and write up as I tackle the job.

Not really to do with the shocks, but you might take a look at the nearby rear roll/sway bar bushings and drop links while you're in there, if you haven't already...

Thanks Michaelh, definitely plan on that as well! This is the new craigslist find so everything is under inspection and scrutiny. I appreciate all of the advice for jobs I’ve yet to do.
