Default 03 XK8 Keyless Entry

I would like to get an additional keyless entry fob for my XK8 and was wondering if it would be worth it to buy one used (canI re-program it myself?,do all numbers on the back need to match the one I have?) or should I just pony up and go to my dealer parts dept.

By all means buy one on eBay or elsewhere. I paid less than $30, including shipping, for one that looked new and worked perfectly. Yes, all numbers should match. There has been some comments on different last two digits working; ie, AA and AB but that was discovered by an owner that had two fobs with different digits and both worked. I wouldn't bet on it. Coding is easy.

Thanks Test,

I was told by one seller that as long as the FCC number is the same, it should work.

Can anyone confirm or dispell this??

Pretty much any of the remotes should work. Just like S-Types with the seperate remote, can use the new style flip key and remote.

Be careful where you buy. I DO NOT recommend www.originalkeyless.com I ordered a remote back on 4/16/08 and as of 5/09/08 still have not received it. They say it can take up to 21 days. 21 days from AZ to IN? The only communications I have had with them is via email. They will not answer the phone, if there is one.I now have had to dispute the charge with my card company, what a hassle......

I send my apologies to www.originalkeyless.com. I did finally receive my remote today. I ordered on the 16th of April, they shipped on the 21st of April and I received it on the 12th of May. They took 5 days to ship and it took 21 days to get here. The remote is used, (as advertised) and appears to be in working order. If you go to their web site they are trying to get set up with UPS for their deliveries. Obviously they are having problems with USPS. Maybe www.originalkeyless.com is worth another try……
