On my 2003 jag xkr, when I turn the key all I hear is a click….no starter turnover. Battery is good, pretty new and charged.

The click sound happened once or twice before…I was parked at work and went to start the car…click, tried again click, tried a third time and it turned over………………Another time it went click then I went back into the store to look around and tried it an hr later and it turned over.

 

all connections in trunk checked and clean, fuses OK.....called the dealer and the service manager stated that the connection at the starter has been troublesome on these years.....anyone else hear of this problem or have it? usually starters have just booted studs and nuts.....corrosion there perhaps?

 

Definitely worth checking. If your battery is good and all connections are also good, next thing I would check is the starter itself.

Sounds like you're hearing the relay but can you check for voltage on the far side of it?
