Angry 1997 XK8 rough idle with acceleration problem

No peace with this car. After all the work that was done it drove great for 1 day ( Fuel pump, fuel filter, replacement ECM, replaced throttle body with all sensors, repairing coolant leak etc.) Driving on the 2nd day after about 1/2 hr i went into a turn and when coming out of the turn pushed on the gas and almost nothing. No acceleration. Started to catch a little then RPM's came down to about 400 then stalled. when i started up again all was normal. 5 min later same. Pushing the gas petal does not accelerate the car until i restart. That the F. I would love to enjoy this car but its never ending issues. Someone please help me resolve this. Thanks

It could be so many things, most likely even something that the garage has not done correctly. Have any error message appeared on the dashboard? Until you can do an ODB scan for faults, you probably not be able to make much progress.

All work is being done by myself. I also exchanged the throttle body with a unit that i disassembled and cleaned all contacts in the accelerator sensor. No OBD2 faults. On the dash i get gearbox and Abs fault. All goes away upon restart.

How old is the battery? Gearbox and ABS faults typically appear when the battery voltage is low. Which ODB scanner do you have? Such faults caused by battery voltage usually leave a fault but you need a scanner which can read the Jaguar.

Richard
Thanks for trying to help me. I pulled an ignition coil and upon testing it seems weak or failing. I ordered a new set of coils and will update the results when i receive them.

If i can ask you a question... There is a vacuum line attached to top on the throttle body. Where does it go? If i blow into it, there is no resistance. As if its open on the other end.

From memory I think that vacuum line is for the cruise control. My car doesn't have cruise control so the line on my is just open at the far end.

The line runs to the solenoids in the right fender well. Remove the liner to check the connections.

In OBD do you have P1111 or - my guess - P1000?

If P1000, look to see which OBD monitors are unhappy (unset). Each unset one means many codes can't flag but at least you may have hints as to what is unhappy.

You may be able to see something helpful via OBD live data.

Did you replace the coil? And if so does it work now or what symptoms are you experiencing now?

I'm so frustrated.. I replaced the coils and plugs. I sent the ECM for repair. I even swapped the throttle body out. I then disassembled and cleaned the accelerator unit on the side of the throttle body. All with no luck and no change. Still after about 1/2 hour of driving and coming out of a turn I get no or erratic response from my accelerator. Many times it just stalls. Upon restart all is fine for about 5 mins then again. Cant think on where to look next...

I would try/borrow a different ODB scanner. With an engine fault as serious as the engine actually stalling, there must be some fault codes registering.

2 different scanners and only p1000. No other faults. Seems like it only does it when the engine warms up??

I see where you have replaced the fuel filter. Even so, if there is debris in the tank a new filter can quickly be blocked.

A pressure test, or filter examination can eliminate that possibility.
