According to the Drivers Handbook: "To Lock: Press the door release lever inwards to lock both doors and luggage compartment." So, I parked, opened the driver side door, pushed the lever inwards and closed the door. This did not work. Any tips?

 

What they do not tell you is that is only works with the door shut. It is implemented that way to prevent you from locking your keys in the car.

To lock from the outside you must use the key or remote key fob.
