I appreciate it. She still has a long way to go, but we're getting there. For now, she's a driveable, mostly reliable afternoon car. She's nice enough, but I'm not too worried about every small ding or rock chip. And I am enjoying bringing her back to her former glory. I'm not going to let perfection be the enemy of "good enough."
My oldest daughter decided her name is Ruby. Something about the wizard of oz, ruby slippers starting a long journey and emerald city being the destination, since the car began ruby red and is ending emerald green. She's much more poetic and allegorical than I am.

I am as yet unable to find a cassette tape to try mine out. I've been looking at thrift stores, and I can find tons of CDs, but my search continues...
Concerning the inoperative heater, since the car has been sitting for many years unused, it is my opinion that your heater core is more than likely clogged shut. You’ll need to remove the 2 hoses from the heater core, get a long and skinny funnel, I use a diluted mixture of white vinegar and water to let it sit for about 10 minutes, flush out with plane water until it comes out clear.
eBay is your friend. There's a seller with a s-load of cassette tapes. I bought several. Downside, about half of them didn't play correctly. The hubs would bind. But they were cheap. I'm sure the seller would have refunded the price of the bad ones, or given me substitutes. I was just too lazy to bother. It is kind of cool, in a weird retro kind of way, to pop in a tape.
