Sold my 99 jag, finally after 6 months of trying, sort of. a woman bought it because she said she just drives jags and hers died, she wanted another so she bought it for my asking price, all cash, drove it home from the bank, where papers were signed. she loved it. the dents did not matter, the paint was great and its a looker, smooth and quiet and , well , as I found via three years of ownership, an exquisite car.
i got more than i bought it for, and in the end it costs me to own it three years and 10,000 miles. I had issues with it but was never towed. I did not do all the stuff that everyone tells you to do, just the basics, fluids, filters, tires, brakes, electrical...it was 20 years old, 47,000 miles and now it lives in the same city i got it from, san francisco.
i shall miss it, not wish for another british car, ever, but i can say i had a jag and i loved it no matter what happened. never saw so many check engine lights.
and this forum, more helpful than any i have encountered and i am a long timer on a few other forums. nice folks here.
if i had it to do again i would pass, but if i did it, i would get the newest xkr i could find.
Sorry to see you go and totally understand your frustrations with the X100. Not a car for the faint hearted.
At least it sold, after 6 months of trying and you didn’t lose out too much on the ownership.
I’m in Bahrain, maybe the only running XK8 on the road. This one, on the local OLX website has been on sale for a similar amount of time without any luck.
Thanks for letting us know and good luck on your next car.
I hear you. I am now going to pick up my 2001 XK8 from the shop. A coolant hose burst and there were enough little probs that caused it and or resulted from it overheating (water pump, reservoir, head gasket, etc etc.) that it was easier and cheaper to just replace the engine! Radical but here in the UAE there aren't a lot of options for second opinions. An adventure for sure, but boy do I love the car when it is on the road and nothing is lighting up on the dash!
Like Graham, sorry to see you go. However, I think that, as far as Jags are concerned, ‘Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.’

All the best.
Well, I've found a lot depends on the divorce settlement. At least with Jags you don't have that to worry about.

...because, it goes without saying, having a relationship with a Jaguar is so expensive that, by the time of the divorce, there is no money left for the settlement. In other words (and I am both proud and ashamed of the forthcoming phrase):
