Default 2 problems

Hello guys, i know there are nothing but scholars in here so i need help. Firstly, my jaguar xk8 03 is giving off heavy gas fumes as i drive through the air conditioning and if i roll down the window it gets worst. Any ideas what that could be or the source. Second, it says "cruise not available" on my dash. Any way i can get that back? Thank you

Are you getting any codes with an OBD reader?

The CC problem could be that your brake light switch isn't working.

The gas smell could be a bad purge valve. Do you get a lot of pressure release when you open your gas filler cap?

Your likely getting that message because the brake lights aren't working which will disable the CC.

'Check rear lights' in combination with 'cruise not available' messages is nearly always a bad brake pedal switch.

Agree, that you should check for OBDII codes for the gas smell for a clue. It could be the purge valve, but there is also a great deal of brittle plastic and rubber piping for the evaporation fuel system. The piping and charcoal canisters should be visually inspected under the car for damage or deterioration.

I just received my purge valve yesterday. Similar problem with less than 1/2 tank I'll smell fumes. There was no back pressure but this is the first FRU. Location is behind drivers side wheel liner, I'll be doing mine in a week or two.
