2000 Jag XKR third (Boot) tail light isn't working. I took it off and rigged it to a 9 volt battery and it lit up. There is no power to the female fitting. I followed the wires and they Re all plugged in. Before I go checking all the connections with a probe, does anyone have an idea what may be causing the problem? The Boot lights aren't working either. Thanks, Hal

 

Fuse F8 5A in the trunk fuse box supplied by Relay R5.

 

Follow the wires from the light to the right edge of the trunk (boot) as the wire harness passes into the boot at the hinge. There is some repeated strain on the wires there and they also can be crispy. I fixed one and another broke when I pulled on the fix to check it. Fairly common it appears.

Third brake light. All you guys were spot on with it being the wires broken at the hinge. Fixed, thanks HalBrown
