Default 2000 XK-8 Fuel odor

Getting a fuel smell "intermittently" while driving with top down or with
windows open on my XK-8 Roadster.

Comes and Goes !!!!
Fuel filler cap "looks OK", but perhaps a test of the cap would be in order??
I also looked in the front driverside wheel well at the hose connections to
the unit that has the vacuum switch and all connections appear to be ok.
Perhaps I should pull a vacuum test on the switch?
There are no apparent fuel leaks that I can see.

Any help is appreciated

JVANNOZZI,

You should introduce yourself at the new member area and this post should be put in the XK8 section and I'm sure you will get lots of help.

I would help you if I had any answers but. Is your gas tank full, it doesn't take much fuel to get a smell, post it in the XK8 forum where everyone looks in. Probable just the North east people look here. Sorry I can't help.

moved you over joe!

There are several threads dealing with 'odor' coming under hard acceleration, but only theories and myths as to their cause, no absolute determination.

Call a dealer with your VIN and find out if S841 has been performed. Could be a vapor issue with the EVAP system
Corroded Filter Vent Pipe .
Canister Close Valve .
Service Action S841
