I am looking to upgrade my radio. I have tbe standard radio. I ordered the early xj8 face from coventry west and the fascia and wire harness from Nexxia.
I still want it to look somewhat stock

My question lies with the head units.
I was thinking of going with the new pioneer Deh-p8400Bh with sirius adapter and i will probably also instal a back up camera rear view mirror

Or i can go with an older jvc kdavx77 which tbey still sell on amazon. Which has video and can accept the back up camera


I have a ipone 4s and various older ipods

Hear are my questions
Does the jvc work with this iphone 4s,mainly interested in the bluetooth portion
I can always hook up an older ipod for that feature

What would you guys buy the brand new pioneer no video, but sirius, streaming, pandora and bluetooth or the jvc

Also anyone with an aftermarket radio and steering wheel adapter can you give me the model number of the adapter

If there is another radio someone would suggest please do. I do not like Alpine, problems with them in the past.

I just finished installing a JVA ADV49, which was the predecessor to the jvc kdavx77 and I'm very happy with it. I have an Android phone and streaming music, books, etc works flawlessly. The hands free phone works ok, but have not been able to upload my phone book and there is a bad echo on the receiver's end. However, I think both of these issues are Android issues, at least according to the Android forums, which I hope will be resolved when the next firmware update is installed. So, if it were me, I'd go with the jvc kdavx77.

My husband put in kenwood dnx980. He also put in a kenwood amp and 4 new kenwood speakers. It is awesome. Oh yeah....a sub in the trunk.

Something I didn't add...is that I have an iPhone 4s with a brodit dock attached to my interior. YOu see it in the video. That is the best contraption ever. You just simply put the phone in it and it charges and plays through the radio. You don't have to tug and pull on wires...it is a dock. Just lift and remove. Let me know if you are interested in that and I can send you a link. A bit expensive but worth every penny.

 

I've followed your posts about the various mods for some time. It's good to finally see round the XK in the video.

I particularly like that Kenwood install. If mine didn't have factory Bluetooth, I'd go for that.

Thank you. Yes that Kenwood install is my favorite also. Before that I was almost embarrassed to put the top down and turn up the stereo because of the horrible bass tones and what have you. Now...I get embarrassed when I have the top down and come to a red light. I have to turn the music down because I don't want to offend anyone with the beautiful rich tones that are SOOOOO loud. hehe I love my Jag!!!
