Default 2000 XK8 Clock connection

Good day, I am hoping someone can provide me a clue where to look. We purchased our 2000 XK8 a couple of weeks ago. It was not ran very often and I believed someone changed the clock wiring to only run while the vehicle is running so it wouldn't drain the battery. I am new to the XKE, we previously had a 2001 XJ8 that got totaled in hurricane Ian 2 years ago. Finally got around to replacing it!. ANy help wouild be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

No such car as a 2000 XKE. XKE production ended in the 1970s....

My apologies, no idea where the "E" came from in my brain. I can not change the title though

The first thing to do is have a look at the wiring to those dials. The wood veneer dashboard panel just pulls off (pull from the bottom), you can then unscrew the dial cluster to look at the connector. Look for a RED/GREEN wire that has been tampered with - that is the 12V supply.

I did some googling and found mix messages on there being a battery to keep the clock running while the car is off. I couldn't find anything in the cluster are poking around. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

There isn't, so you won't find anything!

The easiest way, is to add a rechargable 12v battery close the the clock that is charged via a diode, and a simple relay or just connect to an ignition live wire..The diode will stop it supplying other things and the battery will be charged whilst running.

I can't help thinking the easiest way is to make sure it is wired up the same way it left the factory and always keep the car plugged into a battery conditioner at home. A NOCO or a CTEK is what pretty much everyone uses.
