Default 2000 XK8 problems after transmission replacement

My 2000 XK8 with 80k miles. Gearbox warning light came on, transmission shop offered a used tranny and I went with that. When I picked up the car there was an o2 sensor warning, car also had sluggish power as if the emergency brake was on.

They replaced the O2 sensor and got rid of the error code. Engine sounds great but can barely make it up a slight incline. These are the error codes the car had before transmission swap.

P1260 security input, u1041 SCP vehicle speed higher, b2368 steering column switch circuit, B1595 ignition switch illegal input code, B/2 OS sensor bank 2 O2 sensor open circuit, p1722 transmission stall speed

Transmission shop has given up and I'm taking it to the Jaguar dealer Monday. Up until the morning that the gearbox gave out the car ran great, great power and no issues at all. I also never had any error lights.

I'm afraid that Jaguar dealer is going to say the tranny they put in is bad and then I'm going to have a fight on my hands between two repair facilities. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

On what collective evidence besides the above codes did you decide to replace your transmission? Often times spurious OBDII codes get thrown (including transmission faults) due to nothing more than a dying battery....

I will be surprised if any dealership would be willing to touch your car. They do not diagnose and repair transmission units - they only replace them. Do not waste your time or money with a dealership....

I did the battery replacement but that didn't help. I didn't do anything other than that though. Just had it flatbed to the tranny shop.
I have a suspicion they damage something during the tranny removal. They also said they took out the exhaust so they could get at the transmission.

You need to go to a Jag specialist, not a dealer. If we knew where you live we might be be able to provide more help.

Did you do a hard reset when you changed the battery?

There is something in the procedure about switching the ignition , on/off at some point, not sure if you did that?

After a hard reset the ignition should be switched on for 30 sec. before starting.

youre supposed to disconnect the battery and then ground the positive lead. Then with it grounded, switch on the ignition for a time (dont know what?) then off , the reconnect the battery. If you dont do this, all of the electronic boxes that are not powered with the ignition off wont be reset.

from Jaguarepair.com

'Hard Reset Procedure

Remove the “-“ cable from your battery then turn the key on in the run position turn the lights and the horn for 30 seconds then turn the lights and the ignition key off and reinstall the “-“ cable.

When you do this your car is reset to ground “0” meaning you will lose the window memory so you will need to reset both windows, you will also lose all your radio presets and the possibility that your radio may need the security code. If you need the code to make the radio work just call Jaguar and they will give it to you. '

A lot of people think they are doing a hard reset when they are not!

Thanks for the update, I will try this procedure, however it seems the since the car ran fine before the tranny gave out, and assuming the tranny they put in is ok - what would cause the new issue of lack of power?

When the transmission Is removed there is a ground wire on the right side of the bell housing that needs to be Removed. I would check to make sure that this ground is install correctly. It's simple to check and if it was forgotten or if you don't have A good ground It can cause havoc with the electronics.
