Hi all

Its time to replace all the XKR shockers at 110,000 kms.

It has the CAT adaptive set up.

It's not an R spec XKR.

Does anyone know the Bilstein part number for these for the fronts and backs

I've been quoted

Bilstein MJB3540EB# for the rear from SNG Barratt and

Bilstein MJB2140EB# for the fronts form SNG

My mechanic says that I need to make sure they have the adapter harness with them?

Anyone have any knowledge about that

When your mechanic said "adapter harness" I bet he was just ensuring you purchase the CAT shocks not the standard ones.

Google partsgeek, then search for bilstien shocks for your car. The part numbers are easy to find that way. BTW, they had the best price I could find for standard shocks by far.

Don't forget to get new upper shock mounts while you are at it. At 110K they are probably shot.

 

SNG Barratt seems to have the best price on these, Not cheap but 10% additional discount for Jaguarforums members. They list the Bilstein CATS Shocks as "Special Order", so probably delayed delivery.

Since you are replacing all 4 Shocks. you could use non-CATS shocks and unplug the Control Module in the Trunk (Boot) to avoid error messages.

1. Johnken. What he meant (after I quizzed him) was that the new CAT type shocks have a different wiring plug/ connection than the old ones. You can cut the old ones off and adapt but we agreed that it would be best to stick with a stock item. One website did make mention of including the wiring adapter harness.
2. Paul.Even though the rears knock a bit , I have never had an error message. On test , it had never had an error message apparently.

My mechanic has a pair of NOS , CAT type fronts he will sell me for about 20% of the current price.

He has had them for a year after someone cancelled a job.

I will probably get him to just source the rears from OS as well , as it's much cheaper than buying from Jaguar Australia.

That way , he has responsibility for the whole job should something muck up

You could send all four of to bilstein and have them rebuilt. On their website under downloads. Looks like the cost is either 95 or 127 per strut. Give them a call a lot cheaper than new ones and probably better.
