Default Power Steering Fluid Reservoir - Cap OR Gasket Part Number?

Power steering fluid reservoir leaks around the cap. I wipe it off now and then, but it's quite an annoyance. I have searched for a new cap, but have not been successful...can't even find a part number. I am sure the gasket on the cap can be replaced. However, haven't been able to find that part number either. Does anyone know part numbers for either a new cap or a new gasket?

Clean it; put a light coat of heavy silicon on the gasket; drive it.

I don't want to seal the cap to the reservoir. I want to fix the leak the right way.

Jaguar only lists a part number for the entire DISTANCE TUBE. Piece 5 on the attached diagram. You might want to try everydayxj or jagbits for just a new cap.
Send in a parts request on jagbits website and they can find you a used one or provide a quote for the assembly.
everydayxj has a lot of old stock xj parts and also parts out XJ's.

About the only thing I found was the reservoir AND cap together. It would be ludicrous to think that there is no cap or gasket separately.

I believe the identical P/S fluid reservoir is used on many BMWs and their part number for the cap is: 32 41 6 8 51 332, which superseded from the old number 32 41 1 128 332.

Pelican Parts lists the cap at $24.25, Bavarian Autosports lists it at $24.95.

However, BavAuto also shows the gasket available separately as part numer: 32 41 1 128 333, and they show it as available for $5.95. It's just a large O-ring.

If your reservoir is marked ZF (the manufacturer of the steering rack), it is very likely that this gasket will fit your reservoir cap, but please don't take my word for it - do your own research.

Cheers,

Don

Is the old gasket torn? Gently clean it and coat it with silicon grease: it stops leaks.

I just found out the hard way that my cap is missing a gasket altogether. Anyone have a direct link to buy just the gasket? I cannot do a Search by part number on BavAuto, apparently.
