2000 XKR starts for ~1 second then stalls
The car was running fine earlier today on the way to work.
Now it's stuck in the parking garage.
I start it up, and it just flutters out in about a second. I tried giving it some gas but it had no effect.
Any ideas if there is a quick fix to get it running enough to get home, or to get it to the mechanic up the road?
Or if I should just dump this thing and get a car that doesn't cost so damned much to fix?

If you want to dump it, you can give it to me. Otherwise you might check your fuel pump(s). They say your xkr has two pumps, it starts and runs on one, and number two kicks in when more is needed. After x number of start attempts, the ecu will use number two to start. Do a search on this forum and you'll see many such threads.
I've got an xk8, and my symptoms were just about the same.

Remove the fuel pump relay #1 from the trunk fusebox (see diagram). Then try to start up to about six times. Once it starts, the car has learned to run temporarily on fuel pump #2 until fuel pump #1 is repaired.
The fuel pump fails MUCH more often than the relay, so it is the likely problem.
