I own a 2001 XK8 and have 70,000 miles on it. I travel considerably and am now on travel status a couple of thousand miles from home. My Wife tells me she went to start the car and while it turns over it does not fire. I had a similar problem several months ago, had it towed to a garage and the in-tank fuel pump was replaced. I shouldn't think it would be the same problem although it is the same symptom. I won't be home for a few more days so cannot try any suggestions I may receive but wanted to be armed with some when I get there. I note that one fellow was told to try and reset the computer by disconnecting the battery temporarily. I would be interested in how that worked out for him. Thank you in advance for any assist.

 

if the fuel pump was replaced, definitely check the 'no start' threads linked in our FAQ within this sub-section of the forum. It has lots of good diagnostic paths to sort that out. If all else fails, check the pressure again on the fuel rail...just to confirm that the pump is providing fuel.
