Please Reply! I have asked this question a couple of times to no response - but there MUST be one of those little stub units that would replace our ant and cover the hole, and bring in the same stations with the same clarity?? The radio itself is pitiful - surely we can't hurt it? DaleD

Install satellite radio and a power antenna off switch. You will never look back.

Question Curved Antenna?

Don't know about a shorter one but mine curves like a fish is on the line. I'm still taking care of everything mechanical but cosmetics will come and a new aerial is on the list. Must be a way to alter the stock antenna so it doesn't go up all the way...maybe remove a telescoping section if that is possible.

or just cutting it off lol. i dont know but we have to figure something out soon because i cant stand it.

you know when your getting out of your car and walking away after having such a pleasant drive and you turn around just to stare at the beautiful car that you put all your love into? well i had that experience today except when i went to turn around with that big stupid smile on my face to admire my xk8 i saw that horrible antenna and it ruined the moment.

Have you seen the antenna switch thread? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=24564

If you are a heavy radio user, maybe its not the answer you are looking for, but for some folks it is.

I replaced my antenna mast awhile ago and it occured to me that these power antenna systems are put in multiple makes of cars. All we need is a shorter mast that will fit. I posed this question to the tech department at a replacement mast company. I'll post what I find out.

I have only had my XK8 about a month, but the antenna was a issue from the first day. I was thinking of tring a hidden antenna. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_12044UA...iled_info#tabs
Here is one fron Crutchfield. Has anyone tried this solution?

I felt the same way about the antenna and ordered a new black one from ebay. I haven't put it on yet, but it looks very nice and might be a little shorter than the OEM one.

For Glenn:

I would be glad to be proven wrong, but I'm not optimistic about the Crutchfield antenna.

There's just no substitute for "aperture" ... the effective surface area that an antenna creates to gobble up signal. Ugly as they are, our antennas surely can create more aperture than the box shown in the crutchfield photo. Positioning, of course, matters too.

I may be the only person that likes the look of the power antenna at the rear of a vehicle. I think it looks great on my XKR.

It never really offended me. My wife disliked it though, so I put in the switch.
