2001 XKR Glove Box Handle
Looking for a beige replacement handle. Fairly new to this forum and would appreciate if anyone could give me a steer as to where I might find one. Don't need the whole lid; just the handle/lock barrel. A used one is fine. I presume the part is no longer available.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave when I inadvertently pulled mine right out of the door once, I thought I'd have to replace it. If you still have yours, good news. Its not intuitive but its easily reassembled. If this is true I'd be happy to help.

Hi John,
Thanks for the response. I still have the piece. The plastic trunnion on the right side broke. I shall try to glue it back on and insert a pin to give it some strength. Not too hopeful
. DCR Autoparts in Scotland has located a used one and am now investigating that as a possible solution. I need only the handle, not the entire lid and will use my current lock barrel. I've also found a good video that explains how to deal with the glove box. http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8bwYDjrOgw
I'd be happy to hear your advice. My e-mail is pdbarton@bell.net

Hope this helps in the meantime.
Oh yeah, search jaguar xk8 glove box (handle, or spring, or repair . . .) Lots of good photos to be found on the web.

Thanks John. The script in that link you provided describes exactly what my referenced video showed. So reckon I'm fairly clear on the mechanism and how it works. So, all I now need is an intact latch part.
Dave, fyi you mentioned glue. I don't know about you but I always find it frustrating, to say the least, trying to id the plastic type so I can choose the right glue.
After reading about it here, I stopped at Harbor Freight and picked up an inexpensive plastic welder. Works wonderfully, especially if the mended area isn't visible (hard to melt and keep it looking smooth/pretty)
