Default 2001 xkr headliner replaced

Anyone know how much labor cost would be to install a new headliner?

It is max 3 hours of work to get the old one out and put a new one in.
Very easy and straigth forward.
Remove passenger seat, remove rear seat, remove side panels, sunvisors and you are ready to go

Do it yourself? I don't think so!!!!! Can purchase headliner for $159. Just need it installed. Was curious how much that might cost and where to go to have it done.

That sounds like it is for the coupe...the convertible is a completely different process.

There are lots of places that will replace the headliner; google care upholstery and you'll find them. I just had this done for my XKR and it cost $325, labor and material. It looks like new.

I actually did it myself on a convertible.

My biggest mistake was getting one that did not come with the plastic fasteners sewn in. If you get one on ebay, make sure it is one that says it has all the hardware sewn in. Also make sure it is one with a linen liner, so it is similar to the OEM product. Also inquire if you can get extra material to recover your A-pillars and header...they almost always need to be redone also in matching material.

2001 was also a transition year from a two piece to a one piece headliner. You need to determine which you have on a 2001.

The old one is pop-riveted in place, and the old rivets need to be drilled out. My guess, if you get one with the hardware sewn in, and you have an experienced installer with the right tools it can be done in about 3-4 hours. It took me much longer because it was my first time and I had to sew in the fasteners from the old top.

Find a local Auto-top or auto upholstery shop...they have technicians experienced in this sort of work.

Here is the convertible headliner replacement procedure if anyone wants to have a go at it on there own. You will need a pop-riveter, a drill, some spray adhesive, basic hand tools and lots of patience. If you have never done it before, allow yourself a couple of days and take photos as you disassemble to make re-assembly easier.

The aftermarket headliners do not come with the window frame. That needs to be removed from the old unit and re-attached with spray adhesive where the old one was sewn in (that part is not in the instructions).
