Talking 2001 XKR mirrors - pleasant surprise.

So... Bought the XKR about a year ago. Was always a bit annoyed at the wibbly-wobbly manual mirrors, I'd have to keep pushing them back to the correct position as they didn't seem to 'locate' properly when moved for any reason, like washing or folding in for storage in the garage.

So last night thought I'd see if anything could be done to tighten up the mechanism and read that manuals could be tightened up; and as a by product read a few posts describing how the cars fitted with powerfolds worked by having the button in a middle position and pulling the lever back.

Hmmm.. . tonight as I drove home I looked at the switch and toggled the switch and felt a middle click as I toggled from one mirror to the other! Middle position found, I then pulled the lever towards me, and lo and behold the mirrors both made some horrible clicking whirring noises but remained 'out'. Pulled the lever again to see both mirrors fold in smoothly and perfectly. Pulled again for the mirrors to fold out again. Sat and did it a few times.

Got out the car to find the mirrors rock solid and properly located now.

Cheapest upgrade to a Jag I've ever done! Power-folds.. woo hoo!

At this point in the story, most women say something
about "little boys and their toys"

The green face above represents my state of envy

+1 I just tried it to and I'm stuck with just plain old manual folding mirrors.

Thanks!
Will try it when I leave work in a few hours.
My external mirrors are also wobbly.

I had the same experience.
I originally thought they were broken or "loose" by design. Then I read the owners manual.

I am not sure what causes them to get wobbly but I am glad I found the cure.
