Default Alt power steering fluid

Just finished replacing front lines to the power latch and topping off fluid in the pump. Also, I just finished replacing the power steering reservoir and the power steering fluid cooler line. I used Pentosin CHS at the pump for the top. So would said fluid play nice in the PAS system and well with any remaining fluid?

Cheers

My 2006 XK8 owners manual says to use Dexron III for power steering fluid. I have topped it up in the past with no issues whatsoever....

What does your owners manual say to use?

Question is about compatibility, will the Pentosin CHS mix and work well with the remaining fluid that's in the system? I have quite a bit left over and would hate for it to sit around if I can utilize it.

The pentosin is a hydraulic fluid for high pressure systems. ATF properties are very different and you should definitely not use the Pentosin.

You can use on of the many synthetic ATF fluids that are compatible. Just check the label to be sure it is a Dexron III substitute. Dexron III is getting hard to find as the newer synthetics are superior.

Awesome, that's what I was wondering. I had read somewhere that it was compatible with other fluids but wasn't sure about which systems. Thank you
