Default 2001 XKR Stripped Bolt Head

Hey All,

I diagnosed a misfire and need to change the spark plugs. Problem is, one of the 7mm bolts is stripped on the cover. I have the stuff to get it off, but does anyone have a good source for replacement nuts and bolts for a 2001 XKR?

For your Jaguar XKR (X100), the cam cover bolts have specific part numbers based on their position:
  • Inner-Rear Camshaft Cover Bolt: Part Number: AJ810721
  • General Camshaft Cover and Gasket Bolt: Part Number: AJ810628

Thanks, but that's not the one. I'm talking about the 7mm ignition coil cover bolts. I've also discovered a melted coil, so that's fun.

I would PRY the coil while turning the bolt and it will remove the brass insert along with the bolt.

Pliers and socket can get the two separated and the insert 'epoxied' back into the cam cover.

A little 'anti-sieze' and re-assemble.

Well at least you've found the probable cause of your misfire. Fit a new coil and no need for plugs. What is your mileage ? (Iridiums are good for 100k +)

A little over 104,000 miles. I've already bought the plugs, so I might as well. They're cheap. I've also read that a faulty plug can cause a coil to melt, so the plug could still be the source of the problem. We won't know until the new coils get here. I don't want to remove anything more and expose the internals to contamination until I'm able to do all the work.

That's not even close to what I asked. This bolt head is stripped. I need to replace this bolt. Where can I find this bolt? It's a black 7mm hex head bolt that holds on the ignition coil cover.

Being rude is definitely the way to get help.

(the following post was edited for tone and courtesy)

Probably best for me to not let my intrusive thoughts in here by saying "if you can't tackle a rounded off 7mm with a pair of Harbor Freight needlenose vice grips or by tack-welding on a helper bolt, maybe you should let a professional work on your car."
