2001 xkr water pump

2001 xkr water pump
I've done a search and cant find a definitive answer. My replacement pump didn't come with the large o ring and doesn't look like it needs one is this correct? Also the gasket is just paper. Would you use a dressing aswell or dosent it need it? Much obliged for any assistance
