2002 convertible pump
I GOT A 2002 JAGUAR XKR... MY CONVERTIBLE PUMP WENT BAD WELL THE DEALER SAID IT WENT BAD... ANYONE WAS THE INSTRUCTION TO INSTALL THE PUMP IT LOOK PRETTY EASTLOOKING AT IT... BUT I DONT WANNA MESS UP ANYTHING... HELP HELP PLEASE LOL
its easy, just label and take pics of of hose routing before you take it apart. and youll need to run the top up and down a few times to remove any air.oh and have plenty of rags, its messy
Wait!
I do not believe that I have ever read of a real, confirmed pump failure. Make sure that the by-pass valve ('T' handle on the side of the pump is closed, clockwise), check the fluid level.
Have someone operate switch and check voltage at pump connection or you should be able to feel/hear the pump running if electrical is working.
Be very careful if you get to the point of removing the solenoid electrical connections. My previous owner destroyed the pump by tearing the electrical connection off one of the valve solenoids when the problem was the top latch hose. He, obviously, had not checked out these forums.
The pump is $1400 at the parts counter. I found one, after a month's shopping on the internet for $150.
My bet is that the pump is fine. If not, I will give you a working pump that has a ruined valve solenoid and requires the use of your plastic reservoir. A cracked reservoir was why I got its replacement for $150.
Let us know if you really have a bad pump or what fixed the problem.

yes while its not a common failure(Ive replaced 3 in 11yrs) it does happen. What is the issue and why did they say it failed? Electrical or pump seized, Ive had both. I guess it depend on how confident in the diag. Before I would have condemned I would have double checked everything since 1its expensive, and 2not common
my top will let all the way up... but the latch will not lock causeing the back windows not to let up.... i was locking it manually but i stripped that out.... now two months ago one of my hoses had bust causing the top not to let up at all.... so i took it to te dealer and they replace the hose.. then they said my pump was going out not letting it lock... i looked at the motor and its real low on fluid i have a pic of it
here picture of the pump

well when the top is ready to latch as when signaled by the siwtches in the pass side ram, the solenoid on the pump is signal to the direct pressure to the latch and close and lock once the micro switch in tha latch signals that it done pressure releases( pump stop) and rear windows go up. soooo a more common prblem is the microswitch in the ram and this will not signal that the top is ready to latch so it never will. You can remove the back seat bottom(2 10mm nuts) and lift it out to access the connector to the ram and manually trigger to test, if it closes then it the ram if not see if you have signal at the solenoid if you do it is the pump.

KINDA HARD FOR ANOTHER TECH TO COMPLAIN AS TO WHY IM BUSY AND THEYRE NOT WHEN THE ADVISOR TELLS THEM ALOT OF MY WORK IS RETURNING CUSTOMER REQUESTS, (NOT RECHECKS)....BUT YES IF THE LATCH LINES ARE REVERSED FOR THE LATCH IN THIS CASE IT WONT PULL DOWN.
