Actually, heli-coils, and specifically time-serts, are stronger and less likely to give problems, ie “pull out” than just a threaded block, be it iron or aluminum.

in decades past, when preparing an engine for race duty, the first thing we did was to install heli-coils, and later on,then the time-sert product when it became known to us.

zray,

On second thought, I should have Heli-Coiled each Head Bolt but as we started back with the Head Bolts they all took the 90/90 torqueing without any problem......Those Bolts were really singing there at the end, so hopefully they will stay!
