Hello I just bought a 2003 xk8 only 56k miles on it. I was checking the spark plugs and when I put everything back together forgot the maf connection. The cars dash had a fault on the dash along with the engine light on. I plugged the sensor back in
the code went off but the engine light stayed on. how do I reset the code. I bought the car on an auction and have never driven an xk model I have 2 xjr's and like them. the xk is just too small need to sell it as i cannot get in and out easily.
so need to reset the engine light before I put it up for sale, thanks

 

Any standard OBDII scan tool can clear the code and turn off the MIL (also known as the Check Engine light)....

 

No need - it will self-clear after 4 engine warm ups (if fixed).

If you clear codes (OBD tool) you also clear the OBD monitors many areas need set (or re-set) for smog test...

 

thanks for the info, the code cleared itself after starting several times. everything seems to be working correctly.
