Default 2005 XK8....with mina exhaust and possibly lowered?

Hey guys,

I wonder if there's any of you that has Mina exhaust also lowered your car? I just installed mine not too along ago. Initially I want to lower it a bit too with Mina springs, however since the Mina exhaust is under the axle...it seems it's really close to the ground I am afraid if I lower the car I'll scrape the exhaust every time the road is less than straight

I haven't scraped mine yet, but I've only had the exhaust for two months.

That gap on the wheel well is unsettling plus trying to get a sharper handling as well.

I was wondering about getting my exhaust redone and no one wanted to attempt the over axle at 2.5" I was curious myself about the under axle

This is how it's going to look under the axle...not very pretty but works...hence my reservation for lowering the car...the bottom of the pipe is a few inches off the ground now I worry what's going to happened if I lower the car another 1.4 inches.

Well at that point the clearance should remain the same unless you go with a lower profile tire. I was just worried about scraping in general...Hope someone else chimes in

The only thing good about the under the axle is that muscle heads see that and know your car probably isn't stock.

I haven't lowered mine and I think I've scraped lightly once.

I don't really care about anyone seeing it. A few shops I went to just said getting a 2.5 inch setup in the factory location wasn't going to happen. Perhaps an oval pipe in that location would help

I've run under the axle pipes for the last eight years, first on a 99 XK8 with 17" inch wheels and currently on a 03 XKR with 20" wheels. No problems scraping, the ground clearance is based on the overall tire diameter and shouldn't change based on lowering the body down on the axle.
I have more problems with scraping on the front end when entering my driveway.

If you lower it, the negative camber on the front end will increase the wear on the inside of your front tires. There is no camber adjustment readily available. Before someone jumps in with the eccentric bolt... it adjusts about a 1/16th of an inch... hardly a camber adjustment at all and certainly not enough to compensate for an inch drop of the Mina Springs.

My car is lowered and no abnormal tire ware after about 12,000 mines. I bought the car lowered and the mechanic that did it said he properly adjusted the camber. All I know:O)

There is no adjustment for camber on our cars. Some adjustments to toe-in / out can be made to compensate for excessive wear, but nothing can change the basic laws of geometry. The more the car is lowered, the more the front wheels will lean-in towards the center. Look for tire wear on the inside tread.

Yeah I don't really care about showing off the look from behind, I wanted the performance gain and more rumble and hopefully put Mina springs and lower the car by 1.4 inches to get rid of those wheel gaps and achieve better handling and better look.....I have 19' wheels now with no plan to put 20's.

As far as scraping goes....the bottom part of my bumper is already messed up as is... i know lowering it will make things worse.

Hey nooww ...no actually I don't like the look from the back with the pipes hanging like that ...I was doing it for the performance gain and sound from inside the cabin...the only thing we can show off on our cars are the lines .... can't really show off the performance cause almost all mid size sedan can beat it easily nowadays ... Lol

Being I didn't do the job myself I really cant tell you what was done or how it was done. What I can say for sure is he did mention the eccentric bolts and something else perhaps for the rear.. Normally when there is a big camber issue you can see it in the wheels and I really don't see it at all. My old tires were just plain worn pretty evenly when I removed them. Just took a look at my new ones and I don't see any excessive wear however I did see what looks like a bit of feathering on the tires which could be due to a toe issue and perhaps combined with Camber. I should check the alignment but the car drives awfully straight, Anyway figured id attach some photos...I may try the under axle exhaust when I install my new blower an some other goodies I bene collecting. Currently have center resonator and rear cans removed with the Mina straight pipes,,,But I want a better sound quality.
