2005 XK8 oil cooler bypass or repair
I recently tagged an Armadillo causing my oil cooler to start a small leak. Im really not interested in buying a 4-500 cooler unit.
Is there a way to completely bypass this "over engineering of jaguar" seeing as Im not racing the car or putting it under so much stress that an oil cooler is necessary. Or does anyone have repair ideas or a substitute cooler idea?
Thanks!

$500 is a lot less than a new engine though, and they did put that cooler on there for a reason.
We have many small engineering firms near me that repair radiators and oil coolers, so you probably have a firm locally that can do it. I had a motorcycle rad repaired a while ago - cost about £50 - but it was my old daily commuter that I didn't give a stuff about. If it was on my Jaaaaaaaag - I'd get a new one straight away. my2c

Here is a new one in the UK for about 1/2 price: Jaguar XK8 XKR Engine Oil Cooler MJF7440AA or MJA7440AB | eBay
Shipping should not be too bad if it can be shipped Royal Mail.
I agree it was put there for a reason. Especially being in Florida, I would not want to mess with it.

The engine oil performs a substantial part of the cooling.
The coolant radiator would have been sized to take into account the cooling performed by the engine oil.
If you take the oil cooler out of the equation, then the coolant has to work much harder. It might not be up to the job on its own.

The Jaguar V8 is a low volume engine oil and low volume coolant design so both have to work efficiently to keep the engine cool.
Whilst I might get away without the oil cooler here in the UK, I think the climate in FL makes your proposal very risky.
