I am considering adding 20 mm H&R DRM 4085738 rear wheel spacers to my 2001 XK8 Coupe which presently has 20" Detroit BBS wheels. I am interested in having a more modern appearance. Some of the threads indicate this may not work. Currently there is 3" static clearance for the fender to the top of the tire, and this won't change with a wider stance. Thanks for your advise. I fit 1.5 custom machined H&R wheel spacers to an XKR Silverstone with 20" BBS Montreal wheels.

The fender touches the tire under EXTREME conditions, but otherwise has no problem. Doesn't damage the tire, or the fender, so you should be alright.

 

Just last week I installed 20mm HnR on the fronts and went with the 15mm on the rear. Prior to doing this, I did test the 20mm in the rear and I do agree that more likely than not, you will be fine with the 20mm on the back. My only reasoning for me installing the 15mm at the back was to ensure that if I do lower the car I will have no concern with rubbing….. Not all roads are perfect and yes, at times I like to push the pedal. Once lowered, I may move the 20mm to the rear to test out my concern. But for now, 15mm is plenty in the back and definitely 20mm are needed at the front.
