Default 3 Questions New to 2003 XKR

Hello,

I have 3 questions about my 2003 XKR. I did some research but came up with nothing direct.

I appreciate the feedback ahead of time as I am new to these cars and have a ton to learn.

The transmission cooler (I think) (picture attached) is low. I scraped it on the curb here at work, no damage. Are all the coolers positioned that low on the car?

I have the 20" BBS Montreal's on my 2003 XKR. It seems when I hit rolling bumps at higher speeds, the tires rub on the top of the fender well on the way down. Not potholes, just intersections, etc. where the road changes heights quickly.

I have a terrible brake squeal at low speeds especially, say pulling into a parking spot. Braking again after stopped at a light, stop and go. I do not notice the squeal at higher speeds, when the brakes are cool, or stomping on the brakes. I checked the pads (rims on) and it looks like they have plenty left.

Thanks again ahead of time.

Regards,

That is the oil cooler, and yes, it is pretty normal.

You can check the brackets to make sure they are not bent down further than they should be, but it hangs down pretty low.

That shouldn't happen. Sounds like either a problem with shocks or tired springs.

The rubber parts in the suspension of these cars tends to degrade, things like upper shock mounts, bushings, etc. On a 2003 model, at least some of them likely need replacing.

Had the same problem so pulled the pads and greased them liberally. With the Brembo brakes it's pretty easy to do: two pins and they come out the back of the caliper.

This may or may not help regarding the oil cooler: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-height-60704/

Try some some aggressive, repeated braking in a safe area to clean off the glaze. This, in addition to Charlie's lubrication recommendation should solve the braking noise problem.

I'm astonished that you have no leaks....
