Default 4.2 SC Engine value

Hi All

How much would this engine be worth as a standalone item?

Brand new, never used, 0 miles. Not rebuilt, brand new from the factory, never even been installed into a car.
Jaguar XKR 4.2 Supercharged.

It has been stored indoors and dry and safely for several years.

Thanks

Not acquired yet. But it has been at a specialist's workshop since he got it. Paperwork included apparently.

Even when you installed it the value of the vehicle is low in the Uk so you need to access the value when installed re the purchase price +installation etc maybe not more than half the value of the finished verhicle

Might be worth more as a table than as a usable engine. I joke but I bet if you made a table out of it you could get good money for it from someone. As an engine probably a thousand or so, it will cost an arm and a leg to get it installed into a car and getting it running so I don't think most people would actually want to do that.

I can't imagine it would cost more than a couple thousand to put in the right car - one that is in decent shape except for the engine. So fifteen hundred bucks. Maybe fifteen hundred bucks to put it in if I can find the right mechanic.....

Now, to find the right car. Hmmm.

Of course, I'm in the US, so kidding on the level. But it wouldn't be a crazy project to match a decent car with a new engine. I don't think selling the engine will make you rich though.

There is a good reason this is available with 0 miles on it from new, however, it is not my engine so I am not going into the detail here.
It is being offered for £4K Seems a lot to me, then it comes with all ancillaries, manifolds, cats and transmission and more...

It is not that hard to put an engine into a car if you have the experience and equipment, certainly not thousands as some said. Maybe for those going to dealers or experts/specialists.

However, when it comes to it, it is an engine with bits, it's not a complete car so not going to command car value as the only people that would want it would be the ones that need an engine plain and simple.
Why buy one for thousands when you can get a good secondhand one for a lot less.....?

Not sure.

If I were in the market for an engine, I would want the best engine I could find, and you can’t do much better than a 0 mile engine. I would go over it tho, change all the gaskets, upgrade where possible. It would be a good candidate for a twin screw if it is the supercharged engine. I would happily pay $2k for it.

To reference Top Gear from a few years ago .... you could attach it to a V8 food blender for a manly smoothy or create a V8 Stanner Stairlift. ..the old lady would be on the bog in no time at all 🤣🤣

For reference I bought a brand new 4.0L northstsr crate engine off ebay for $2800 a few years ago for my 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora. Its was 0 miles from carrol shelby. He was trying to start up a new car company but it folded and everything went to auction. I installed it in 2015 and didnt change a thing except maybe the oil. Didnt change gaskets and no leaks.

I was thinking this engine might be from the final ATR (All Time Run) from Bridgend but that was during the X150 era and never assembled with Cats and transmission - so this unit definitely comes out of a vehicle (not ATR crate stock).

If the zero mileage is guaranteed, then it's very difficult to value. Value is dependent on desirability and rarity. Find another one....!
This includes the Transmission and Cats which themselves are not cheap items. £4K actually sounds quite reasonable.
