Default 4.2L Engine replacement?

Saw this ad on Craigslist, this afternoon. I thought it might be of interest to some members who didn't change their tensioners in time (yes, I know that was with 4.0L engines, just a little humor).
2007 Jaguar XKR engine, only 3,000 miles

Torrance in in the general vicinity where I live (about 20 or 30 miles) but I don't need an engine. On the other hand the engine looks surprisingly grungy for having only 3,000 miles on it.

Hey Doug,
You know, I thought the same thing when I saw pictures of the engine. My 125,000 mile engine (reached 125K, yesterday) looks newer than that. But, who knows, certainly you'd want to have it checked out and maybe heads pulled to see what's going on.

They say it was taken out but that motor looks like it came from a car that landed upside down in a swamp.

Maybe, that's what they meant. It landed upside down in a swamp with the hood conveniently open.

This is Hollywood we're talking about -- they will destroy any car for the sake of a movie.

That's "pristine"? Either they left a couple of zeros off the mileage estimate or the filming was done in 2007 and the engine was stored outside the entire time. Everything is badly oxidized.
