That # seems to be a Ford #part, it may be the water pump for the Jag, not sure. Remember Jaguar was owned by Ford. Anyway, the OEM part # is AJ8008912. While changing the pump you may want to change also the thermostat and related hoses. Read the following article, very helpful to understand the failures of the original pumps and thermostats.

I believe that the reason that the water pump is about the only reasonably priced part on the car is that it was a standard Ford design that the Jaguar engineers incorporated into the early design.
Whether your pump came in a Jaguar box or a Ford box is of only a concern if you are competing in a concours. In that case you had better check the dates on the alternator diodes to confirm that they are correct for your car.
. . . and welcome to the forum by the way.

thanks for the help.....the reason why i ask about the serial # is because my car only has 62000 on it.(97 xk8). that serial #was put in at a dealer shortly after i bought the car. it just got replaced, and i am trying to find out if the dealer charged me for a new pump, and didnt replace it. it has the plastic impellors, and looks pretty worn. thanx again

If it have the plastic impellers then I guess is not the latest AJ8008912 with the metal ones. If there are plastic and you already said they are worn, then I suggest you change it ASAP to avoid the overheating and the associated damages to the motor. Check also for the thermostat, and review your hoses while there.

thanx for the quik reply. that water pump is now in the back seat of my winter ride. having the timing chain done now, and the mechanic saw the worn water pump, and replaced it. is this going to be an every 5000 mile problem? what the.... three pumps in 62000 miles.. as i stated before... i am retired, and hardly ever go on a street with a speed limit over 45. yeah, i change the oil when it comes out of winter storage. 2 to 3000 miles. maybe the oil was too clean.
