'97 XK8 bad front wheel bearing sound but ISN'T
1997 xk8 has a rotational sound coming from front that would swear was wheel bearing(s). Had both replaced and no improvement. Crawled in trunk and listened to make sure sound wasn't traveling or something strange. No noise in rear of car.
After very careful listening, sound maybe coming more from the center of the car. When I put trans in neutral, the sound is still there and is dependent to car speed and not on drive line as close as I can tell I jacked up car and moved/wiggled everything and all feel tight.
Any ideas ??????
Thanks

Did you spin the wheels while it was up on jacks to rule out that part? If you do hear noise at a particular wheel then pull off the tire and maybe the rotor to find it. I had an issue after doing some brake work that was a scraping noise when rolling. I finally noticed that the back plate that covers the rotor was bent in a bit down near the hub and it was rubbing on the rotor.
Also, did you shut the car off while rolling in neutral to definitely rule out anything engine related?
I might even jack the car up very securely and have a friend start the car and put it it drive and try to find the noise that way (a lift would be best, obviously, but good solid jack stands can work also).
Just my
