engine

hi my wife was driving home and engine light came on when i checked the car was very low on oil, ever since this has happernd when we get to 50 or 60 mph the car starts to judder. This isn't all the time but the majority. Any ideas what could be done?

Also is it a major job to do a front wheel bearing?

Check to see if valve covers are leaking oil into spark plug receptacle. If this is the
case it causes the coils to go bad and messes your spark.
Have not had to do wheel bearings one of the other guys will help on that.

im a builder havent got a clue on cars if it is coils is it a major job its a s/type 3.0 1999 its due a service

I have the V8 so you can get to both sides easy. The V6 I think you have to remove the intake to get to the rear coils, the front ones are easy.

front bearings can be pretty easy ..unless there seized.. then they need to be chizzled out..
sounds like coils check engine light flashing?

hi the engine light went off as soon as i topped up with oil

In the good old days you hadone coil with a wire to the distibutor with 6 individual wires to each spark plug so whena coil went bad ( and this was very, very rare ) you just replaced the coil.
Now you have one coil on top of each spark plug and on a 2000 Jag
they all will eventually go bad.
