97 XK8 transmission fault
Have a 97 XK8 with 66889 actual miles on it. We are getting a transmission fault warning and it appears to have gone into limp mode. I plan to pull this into my garage and attempt to repair or replace myself. Are there known defects in this particular year? With a sealed transmission, this doesn't seem like enough mileage for this type of issue. Thanks

Use the search function for A drum failure and you will find many threads. Very common problem.
But first make sure the battery is not weak. It should give 12.4 V after sitting overnight. A weak battery will cause many different faults in these cars. And if you have access to a code reader that might be useful, but generic readers do not always pick up transmission codes.
