what is LKQ?

LKQ is a salvage yard franchise. They are all over the country. They also sell on eBay. My local LKQ doesn't have any XK8's unfortunately.

 

LKQ= Like Kind Quality.
It is an insurance nomenclature meaning that if your car had 50,000 miles on it and a replacement part was available that met the same standards (a good used part of similar wear and quality AKA "Like Kind Quality", then it was approved for installation.)

An insurance company is NOT going to authorize a brand new transmission for a 7 year old car!!!!! It will however replace it with an LKQ unit from a similar salvaged car.
