98 XK8 oil restriction

Took my 98XK8 to an independent dealer to check on the noise that sounded like a sticking valve. He checked and determined that the oil pressure was fine, but suspected that the problem wasnot enoughoil volume getting to the engine due to some restriction/build up possibly caused bymy limited driving (50K miles). He said the only way to find out the cause of the problem was to take the engine apart (big bucks), and that the solution would probably be to replace the engine(bigger bucks). His recommendation was to go trade it in. Anybody had a similar problem? What aboutsome oil treatment to try and burn off the restriction? Help?
thanks
thanks
Have you tried using Berryman Chemtool? I haven't used it in my Jag but I have used it previously on a sludgey oil system in another car. Check with local auto parts supply for their recommendations also.

LOL, FIND SOMEONE ELSE, I WOULD MORE SUSPECT 1,CARBON DEPOSITS IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, 2,POSSIBLE LOOSE VALVE SEAT(THEY DROP AND YOU HAVE NO COMPRESSION) 3 AND MORE LIKELY IS TIMING CHAIN NOISE FROM BAD UPPER TENSIONERS, PULL CAM COVER OFF AND INSPECT, IF THEYRE PLASTIC STYLE REPLACE WITH METAL BODIED NEW STYLE AND SHORTER BOLTS. BUT THEN AGAIN i CANT HEAR YOUR ENGINE ON THE NET

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think it's the tensioners as I replaced them last year, & that sound was much more metallic. This definitely sounds like an old Ford I once had when it ran low on oil. I'll check with parts supply for Berryman Chemtool or other ideas.
thanks again.
thanks again.
WELL SINCE YOUVE ALREADY UNDATED TENSIONERS, THE NEXT MOST COMMON TICKING NOISE IS THE VVT'S, SHORT OF REPLACING CHANGE YOU OIL AND GO TO 40-50W AND SEE IF NOISE GOES AWAY, OR LESSENS.
